Use this procedure to troubleshoot the immobiliser system.

PROCEDURE

1.	VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

2.	CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS

HINT:

In troubleshooting, confirm that the problem symptoms have been accurately identified. Preconceptions should be discarded in order to make an accurate judgment. To clearly understand what the problem symptoms are, it is extremely important to ask the customer about the problem and the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred.
Gather as much information as possible for reference. Past problems that seem unrelated may also help in some cases.
The following 5 items are important points for problem analysis:

What	Vehicle model, system name
When	Date, time, occurrence frequency
Where	Whether the problem occurs at a specific location
Under what conditions?	Whether the doors were locked or unlocked, whether the ignition switch was on, whether the engine was running.
How did it happen?	Problem symptoms

3.	INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

(a) Measure the battery voltage.

Standard Voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

4.	CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS

5.	CHECK FOR DTC* (ECM)

(a) Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output.

Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes

Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" of each diagnostic procedure.

DTCs are not output	A
SFI system DTCs are output (w/o Canister Pump Module)	B
SFI system DTCs are output (w/ Canister Pump Module)	C
Immobiliser system DTCs are output	D

6.	CHECK FOR DTC* (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)

(a) Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output.

Body Electrical > Immobiliser > Trouble Codes

HINT:

Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" of each diagnostic procedure.

7.	PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

8.	OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING*

9.	REPAIR OR REPLACE

HINT:

If the transponder key ECU assembly, ECM, or key are replaced, refer to Registration.

10.	CHECK FOR DTC*

(a) Clear the DTCs.

(b) Check for DTCs.

Body Electrical > Immobiliser > Trouble Codes Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs
